Confirmation

Confirmation is the sacrament by which those who are baptized are sealed with the gifts of the Spirit to enhance their growth in faith.  The deepened presence of the Holy Spirit that is offered in this sacrament sustains us in our lifelong commitment to follow Christ and participate in the life of his Church.

Confirmation Guidelines

  1. All those wishing to be considered candidates must have attended religious instruction at St. Andrew Parish for at least 1 year prior.  Candidates are required to attend the Confirmation classes which begin in the fall.  They must attend all retreat opportunities
  2. An interview with the pastor is required before the candidate can receive final approval to receive this sacrament
  3. Normally, a canidate must be in the 11th grade or older
  4. The Archbishop is the ordinary minister of this sacrament.  However, adults who are enrolled in the RCIA will normally receive Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil by the Pastor
  5. The sponsor for the candidate must be a confirmed Catholic who is actively practicing his/her faith and must be able to testify that the candidate is ready and willing to do the same
  6. All confirmation candidates must show deep commitment of faith and of willing service to the parish community and the community at large
